Nagato, Yamaguchi / 長門湯本温泉
Nagato Yumoto Onsen
Said to have opened in the Muromachi period, the oldest hot spring in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Renewed in 2020 around the Otozure River, the town invites strolling: walk the stone-paved paths, sit on riverside terraces, cross stepping stones and snack on local food such as kawara soba and yakitori. There are cherry blossoms in spring, Genji fireflies in early summer, autumn leaves in autumn and light events in winter. "Ontou" is the symbol of the town.
