Imabari, Ehime / 亀老山展望公園
Kirosan Observatory Park
An observation park on the summit of Mt. Kiro at the southern tip of Oshima, said to have the best view on the Shimanami Kaido; on clear days you can see as far as Mt. Ishizuchi, the highest peak in western Japan, as well as the sunset over the sea and, on set days, the illuminated Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge. The observatory, designed by the architect Kengo Kuma, is set into the ground with trees planted on top so that it cannot be seen from outside. "The Kurushima Strait from the top of Mt. Kiro" is one of the 88 views of Shikoku.
