Iwamura Castle Town
Iwamura flourished as the political, economic and cultural centre of the Tono region, and historic merchant houses and townhouses still line its streets, selected as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Along the stone-paved street with lattice doors are shops selling the local castella, gohei-mochi and kankara-mochi, a sake brewery, and antique and handmade-goods shops.
