Iwakiyama Shrine

A shrine at the foot of Mt. Iwaki, founded according to its history in 780 on the summit and moved to its present site in 1091; its gate, main hall and other buildings are Important Cultural Properties.

Opening hours: You can visit the shrine at any time, 24 hours a day. The amulet office is open 9:00-17:00 from April to October and 9:00-16:00 from November to March; prayer-ritual reception is 9:00-16:00 (summer) and 9:00-15:00 (winter). (The prefectural tourism site lists 8:00-17:00 / 8:30-16:00; the shrine's own figures are used.)

Getting there: About 35 min by car from JR Hirosaki Station. Konan bus bound for Dake Onsen-mae (Hirosaki - Iwaki Chosha / Iwakisan Line), about 43 min to "Iwakiyama Jinja-mae", right by the stop.

RulesSince September 14, 2026 the worship hall is under conservation work; pray at the temporary worship spot in front of the tower gate (only people having a prayer ritual may go further in). Rituals are held in the shrine office (reception 9:00-16:00, from 8,000 yen).
