Hirosaki Park and Hirosaki Castle

A castle park famous for cherry blossoms; the castle keep is one of Japan's original surviving keeps, but its interior is closed for works until 2033.

Opening hours

The free areas are open 24 hours. The paid area (Honmaru and Kita-no-kuruwa) charges from April 1 to November 23, 9:00-17:00 (9:00-21:00 during the cherry blossom festival, per the park's own page; the prefectural tourism site says 7:00-21:00). The official page says the fee applies "from 9:00 to 17:00 while open".

Admission

Honmaru / Kita-no-kuruwa: adults (high school and above) 320 yen, children (elementary and junior high) 100 yen (groups of 10+: 250 / 80). Combined ticket with the Botanical Garden and Fujita Memorial Garden: 520 / 160 yen (groups 470 / 130). Free for holders of a disability certificate and for carers of people who need care (proof required). Free for everyone on the last Sunday of May.

Getting there

About 10 min by car or 30 min on foot from JR Hirosaki Station. Konan bus: Hirosaki-Itayanagi Line to "Kamenoko-mon-mae" (about 15 min, then 1 min on foot) or Iwaki Chosha Line to "Shiyakusho-mae Koen Iriguchi" (about 11 min, then 2 min on foot).
