Fukui, Fukui / 一乗谷朝倉氏遺跡 復原町並
Ichijodani Reconstructed Townscape
The remains of the castle town where the Asakura clan ruled Echizen for about 100 years over five generations in the Sengoku period, excavated almost intact and reconstructed. You can go inside the reconstructed samurai houses and townhouses to see exhibits and glimpse daily life of the time. The site is a Special Historic Site and Special Place of Scenic Beauty, and the finds are Important Cultural Properties, a triple designation rare in Japan.
