Boso-no-Mura Open-air Museum
A hands-on museum opened in 1986, merged in 2004 with the Boso Fudoki-no-Oka, where you learn and experience clothing, food, housing and crafts from ancient to modern times and traditional Boso life. The "hometown skills" area recreates late-Edo to early-Meiji merchant houses, samurai residences and farmhouses, with candle-making, papier-mache painting and vegetable picking. The Fudoki-no-Oka area has satoyama, burial mounds and relocated historic buildings.
