Gero, Gifu / 禅昌寺
Zensho-ji Temple
A Rinzai temple of the Myoshin-ji school said to have been founded in the Heian period, counted among the "Ten Great Temples", with buildings in the Chinese Song style. The grounds include the "Banzaido" garden by Kanamori Sowa (a prefectural Place of Scenic Beauty), a tea room, a large Daruma painting by Sesshu, and a great cedar about 1,200 years old that is a national natural monument.
