Sanuki, Kagawa / 津田の松原・琴林公園
Tsuda no Matsubara (Kinrin Park)
A scenic spot of white sand and green pines chosen as one of Japan's 100 best beaches, designated a prefectural park and then part of Setonaikai National Park. It began as a windbreak planted in the early Edo period for the Iwashimizu Hachiman shrine; old pines over 600 years old and pines with exposed roots continue for about 1 km. In summer it becomes the prefecture's largest swimming beach, visited by 60,000 people a year.
