Nagano, Nagano / 真田邸
Sanada Residence (Matsushiro)
A residence that well preserves the look of a daimyo family's palace of the Edo period, built in 1864 (Genji 1) by Sanada Yukinori, 9th lord of the Matsushiro domain, as a retirement home for his mother; after the Meiji Restoration it was the Sanada family's private home, and in 1966 it was given to Nagano City with the family's treasures. Its Japanese garden, viewed from the rooms, shows the colours of each season.
