Sakai, Fukui / 雄島
Oshima Island
The largest island off the Echizen coast, 27 m high and 2 km around, long revered by local people as an island of the gods. Cross the 224 m vermilion bridge and climb 78 stone steps to reach a forest of yabu-nikkei and tabu trees full of legend. You can walk the island at any time (24 hours).
