Omihachiman Suigo Boat Tour
The waterways of Omihachiman, counted among the Eight Views of Lake Biwa, change with the seasons: reeds sprout in spring, grow nearly 4 m in summer, turn gold in autumn and are cut in winter. The boat tour lets you feel this atmosphere directly; it is said to have begun when Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hidetsugu copied the elegant pastimes of the court. The Omihachiman waterways were selected on January 26, 2005 as Japan's first Important Cultural Landscape.
