Hachimanyama Ropeway
A ropeway reaching the summit in about 4 minutes, with a panorama of Lake Biwa, Lake Nishinoko and the old castle town through the seasons. Mt. Hachiman (271.9 m) is the site of Hachiman Castle built by Toyotomi Hidetsugu, and Murakumo Zuiryuji Temple, moved from Kyoto, stands on the main enclosure. It was founded by Hidetsugu's mother, Hideyoshi's sister, to pray for Hidetsugu.
