Nachikatsuura, Wakayama / 那智の滝
Nachi Falls
Revered as the sacred body of Hiro Shrine, a separate shrine of Kumano Nachi Taisha. Also called "Ichi-no-taki", together with the second and third falls upstream it is known as "Nachi Otaki"; it is a national place of scenic beauty and one of Japan's three great waterfalls. It drops 133 m with about a tonne of water a second, 13 m wide, splitting into three streams, and from the "Otaki Haisho Butai" viewing stage you can see it head-on close up.
