Mt. Aratani
Mt. Aratani in Asakita Ward, Hiroshima City, is a little-known spot for seas of clouds. From the 620 m summit, deep fog can cover the town below like a white ocean, and hilltops float like islands. It forms most easily on clear, humid mornings after a large temperature drop from radiative cooling, especially from September to November, and on foggy days it can linger until about 9 a.m. When there is no sea of clouds you can still look down on the Misasa River and farmland.
