Meiji no Mori Minoo Quasi-National Park (Minoo Falls)
A quasi-national park spreading over the mountains of northern Minoh at about 100-600 m. From the grand Minoo Falls, 5 m wide with a 33 m drop, a valley winds through the forest, home to 980 kinds of plants and over 3,000 kinds of insects. It is a valuable natural forest for Osaka Prefecture and the western starting point of the Tokai Nature Trail. There are cherry blossoms in spring, rime and icicles in winter, and especially beautiful autumn leaves in late autumn. Mt. Minoo has long been a sacred place of mountain Buddhism, with old temples such as Ryuanji (Minoodera), said to have been founded by En no Gyoja, and the insect museum on the way to the falls is also well known.
