Lafcadio Hearn's Former Residence
Koizumi Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn) spent 14 years in Japan until he died in Tokyo in 1904, living in Matsue, Kumamoto, Kobe and Tokyo. He lived in Matsue for just under 1 year and 3 months, about 5 months of it in this house. It is the only one of his homes still preserved as it was when he lived there.
