Kokonoe, Oita / 九酔渓
Kyusuikei Gorge
Known as a gorge where fresh green, autumn leaves and waterfalls are especially fine within the Kusu and Naruko river basins. Sheer cliffs continue for about 2 km on both banks, with primeval forests of fir, hemlock and katsura; its run of hairpin bends gives it the nickname "Jusan-magari" (thirteen bends). Around early November, when the leaves are best, many visitors come, and it can also be seen from the Kokonoe "Yume" Otsurihashi.
