Minamioguni, Kumamoto / 黒川温泉
Kurokawa Onsen
A hot spring village in the mountains at 700 m. Its 30 inns and the countryside are treated as "one inn": each inn is a "detached room" and the lanes between them are "corridors", and the whole village welcomes guests. Seven kinds of spring water rise here, and the "Nyuto Tegata" pass (1,500 yen) lets you bathe at any three baths you like; the "Yuakari" event runs from late December to around March.
