Kanazawa, Ishikawa / 主計町茶屋街
Kazuemachi Chaya District
One of Kanazawa's three teahouse districts with Higashi and Nishi, a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings with narrow lanes and latticed windows. It was named after the residence of Tomita Kazue in the Edo period and often appears in the works of Izumi Kyoka. Restaurants and teahouses line the Asano River, and the shamisen that can sometimes be heard adds to the atmosphere.
