Shodoshima, Kagawa / 寒霞渓
Kankakei Gorge
Counted among Japan's three most beautiful gorges and one of the representative scenic spots of Setonaikai National Park, a gorge created over about 13 million years. The view from the ropeway, passing between strange rocks carved by wind and rain and sheer rock walls, is a highlight, with fresh green in spring, deep green in summer, autumn leaves and snow in winter. Trails of the "12 front views" and "8 back views" lead up Hoshigajo, the highest peak on Shodoshima (about 1 hour one way).
