Kakegawa Castle
A castle once praised as "the finest castle of the Tokai region", taken by Tokugawa Ieyasu after Imagawa Yoshimoto fell at Okehazama in 1560. The present keep was rebuilt in 1994 as Japan's first full-scale wooden reconstruction, and on clear days you can see Mt. Fuji from the top. The palace, rebuilt at the end of the Edo period, is one of the few surviving castle palaces in Japan and an Important Cultural Property.
