Ishigaki, Okinawa / 川平湾

Kabira Bay

An inlet on the northwest coast of Ishigaki with nine small islands at its mouth; the clear blue sea, white sand and green islets are said to be the most beautiful scenery on the island. Swimming is prohibited because of strong currents, but glass-bottom boats show the underwater scenery, and black pearls have been cultivated in the bay since the Taisho era.
