Iya Peeing Boy Statue
On the cliffs along the Iya River, many rocks left from building the Iya Kaido road jut out. The statue stands at Nanamagari, said to be the hardest part of the road, 200 m above the valley floor; it was made in 1968 by the Tokushima sculptor Yoshiyuki Kawasaki. Legend says children, road workers and travellers tested their nerve by relieving themselves from the rock here.
