Fukui, Fukui / 鉾島
Hokoshima Rock
A columnar rock about 50 m high, eroded by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan, on the Echizen coast about 5 km along Route 305 from Takasu beach toward Koshino. A promenade has been built, pines grow on the cliff top and a Jizo statue stands there. By day it is busy with swimmers and rock anglers, and in the evening a beautiful sunset sinks into the Sea of Japan.
