Katsuyama, Fukui / 野外恐竜博物館
Dinosaur Museum Field Station
Opened in July 2014 at Kitadani in Katsuyama, Japan's largest dinosaur-fossil excavation site. It has three zones: an observation area where you can watch excavation up close with a guide explaining the strata, an exhibition hall on fossils found here and the history of the survey, and a fossil-digging area where you split rocks brought from the site. It is visited by tour on a dedicated bus from the Dinosaur Museum.
