Ube, Yamaguchi / ときわ公園
Tokiwa Park
A large park of 189 ha (about 40 Tokyo Domes) around Lake Tokiwa. About 3,500 cherry trees and some 20,000 irises, azaleas and hydrangeas bloom here, and it includes the "Tokiwa Zoo", where animals can be seen in natural surroundings, the "Botanical Garden to Travel the World" and the "Tokiwa Amusement Park" with a Ferris wheel. It also has outdoor sculptures from the "UBE Biennale", and since October 2023 a "Lance of Longinus" from "Neon Genesis Evangelion", over 7 m long, has been standing in the park.
