Yura, Wakayama / 白崎海洋公園
Shirasaki Ocean Park
A spot where blue sky, deep blue sea and pure white limestone make a beautiful landscape. Climb the steps and follow the path between white limestone to an observation deck overlooking the sea and a line of white rocks. The limestone, formed over a long time from coral and shells, is a rare natural landscape. At dusk the sun sets over the horizon, and after dark, in good weather, you may see shooting stars and the Milky Way. The park's roadside station serves shirasu rice bowls and soft-serve ice cream, sunflowers bloom in summer, and the coast road on the way is a fine drive.

By bus about 30 minutes on the Chuki bus from Kii-Yura Station (JR Kinokuni Line) to Shirasaki-nishi, then about 26 minutes on foot; by car about 15 minutes from Kii-Yura Station or about 30 minutes from Hirogawa IC (Hanwa Expressway).
