Sainokawara Park
Said to be named for its place at the western edge of Kusatsu Onsen, the area is a special zone of the Joshinetsu Kogen National Park, with a large open-air bath at the far end. Kusatsu, one of Japan's three famous hot springs, has the largest natural flow of hot water in Japan, and here springs rise all over the wide riverbed at 1,400 litres a minute, flowing into streams of hot water that form waterfalls and pools. It is a 15-minute walk from Yubatake through the steam of the spa town, and the park is lit up from sunset until 22:00.
