Kunohe Castle Ruins
The site of Kunohe Castle, the last battlefield of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's campaigns. In 1591 the castle lord Kunohe Masazane rose in revolt against Nanbu Nobunao becoming head of the Nanbu clan, but as the succession had Hideyoshi's approval he was put down as a rebel and the castle fell. Stone walls and moats remain on a hill with a good view, and with many old trees it is a place for local people to relax in cherry-blossom season.
