Yuzawa, Akita / 川原毛地獄
Kawarage Jigoku
Sulphurous gas still vents here, so no plants grow and the whole mountain shows bare, strangely shaped rock; also called the sacred mountain "Kawarage", its scenery looks like hell itself. It is counted among Japan's three great sacred sites with Osorezan and Tateyama.
