Iwakuni, Yamaguchi / 岩国城
Iwakuni Castle
A castle keep that was demolished under the Edo shogunate's "one castle per province" order and rebuilt in its present beautiful white-walled form. From the observation deck on the summit the view of Kintaikyo Bridge and the Iwakuni castle town below is superb, and on clear days you can see the islands of the Seto Inland Sea as far as Miyajima.
