Hirado Dutch Trading Post
The Dutch trading post of Hirado, built before Dejima in Nagasaki. From 1609, when a Dutch ship entered port, until the move to Dejima in 1641, Hirado was Japan's only port for Dutch trade for about 33 years. The 1639 warehouse, said to be Japan's first Western-style stone building, was demolished in 1641 on the shogunate's orders; the faithful reconstruction opened in 2011 and shows historical materials and goods from the trade.
